Dear Sportsman’s Club Member:
Arrangements have been made for our Captain’s Choice Golf Tournament at Raintree Country Club on Monday, May 9th. Prizes will be given out to the top three teams and awarded for the longest drive plus closest to the pin on the Par 3s.
Mulligans will be sold for $10.00 for two mulligans per golfer ($40 per team/2 mulligan per golfer). Senior golfers (62 and over) will be allowed to tee off from the senior tees.
After play has been completed, cocktails will be served with dinner to follow. If you do not plan to play golf, please attend dinner. You will need to make a reservation for golf and dinner or for dinner only or golf only.
***VERY IMPORTANT***
This year we are sending the golf communication by email only. So you will not have a postcard to return as we have done in prior years. Instead, this year, please email to both Joe Pringle (ajpringle@comporium.net) and Jay Brietz (Jay.Brietz@elliottdavis.com) your response using the template below.
Responses should be received by Wednesday, May 4th.
If you plan to play golf, you must list your handicap. Playing partners may be requested, and we will try to accommodate. But know that each foursome will have a designated A, B, C and D player. To be fair, that will be the main criteria for the pairing of foursomes.
If you make reservations and then have a change of plans and for any reason cannot play or attend dinner, please call Joe Pringle at 803-448-0219 through Friday, May 7. After this date, please call the Raintree Pro Shop at 704-541-8880 and ask for Chris Cappuzza, the club pro. It is important that you let someone know if you have signed up but are unable to play or attend dinner. “No Shows” are both expensive and create pairing problems. It is a great outing. Hope you can make it

, 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM ****SPORTSMAN’S CLUB OF CHARLOTTE RENEWAL NOTICE – PLEASE READ CAREFULLY**** Gentlemen – This email serves as your renewal letter for the 2017 – 2018 Sportsman’s Club year. You will not receive a separate letter in the mail. Therefore, it is important that you RSVP to this email to let us know if you plan to return for the 2017 – 2018 season. This past year for the Sportsman’s Club of Charlotte has certainty been challenging with the change of venue to The Charlotte City Club and Quail Hollow Club due the construction at MPCC. Thank you for your understanding and patience as the Officers and Board of Directors, led by President Jay Brietz, worked to make the impact of these changes as minimal as possible. During this year of transition, several key aspects of our Club’s operations that became clear. First, as we explored potential venues for our meetings, we soon realized what a great deal MPCC has been giving us for years. We also learned that while moving the venue around offers a change of scenery from time-to-time, it is really nice to call MPCC home for our meetings. As the Sportsman’s Club President for the 2017 – 2018 year, I want to communicate to each of you some upcoming changes that will be in effect starting in September 2018. Under new management, MPCC started a process of evaluating the profitability of each banquet/function at held at MPCC. For functions that were well under market norms, like our meetings, they have had to increase the cost per person of each meal. With that said, MPCC management has worked with the Club to identify the drivers of cost to help us minimize the impact on our members. Some of the changes noted below are a direct result of those efforts. The Officers and Board spent many hours reviewing options in relation to menus, venues, drinks, etc. to make sure we have explored all viable options regarding our meetings. Therefore, the Board of Directors has approved the following: 1. Meetings will continue to be held at Myers Park Country Club. The dues for the 2017 – 2018 season are $595. If you plan to renew our membership, please take the following steps: 1. Email Colby Weikel at weikelcj@yahoo.com (Sportsman’s Club Secretary for 2017 – 2018) at stating your intention to renew or respond using the YES button below. AND 2. Mail a check, payable to Sportsman’s Club of Charlotte, c/o Colby Weikel, 6128 Fair Valley Drive Charlotte NC 28226 If you will not be renewing your membership, please respond using the NO button below. In order to help us manage our membership numbers, please email Colby and remit your payment by Friday July 21. If you have any questions or comments, feel free to reach out to me directly at abrowning@1asmc.com or 704-650-0058 (cell). J. Alex Browning
